Mardie, I've been involved in the cleaning industry for more than 25 years! I have a degree in Textiles from the University of Tennessee so I've always loved fabric, yarn, textiles and of course rugs. After working for a fabric protection company for two years, in 1988, my partner, Ginger and I started our fiber care service in Chattanooga, Tennessee where we performed fabric, carpet and rug cleaning, protection, and inspection and color correction services for our clients, interior designers and carpet mills.
In 1995 I opened a retail rug store, The Rug Exchange. That was when my passion for rugs exploded!
After selling my share of the business to my partner in 2001, I shifted my focus to training and instructing others in the fiber care industry. I got very involved in the IICRC and eventually became the only woman President from 2006 to 2008. After that I became the Director of the WoolSafe Organization in North America. I am an IICRC-Approved Instructor for Rug Cleaning and Color Repair. I am also a Carpet Inspector specializing in cleaning related issues and color correction.
I also work at Chase Carpet and Rug Care in Denver, CO and oversee the rug cleaning department.
