Rotovac on TG or a Tile Spinner?

Hey guys, I'm new to the group and a new owner operator. Looking at tile and grout cleaning I'm undecided wether to have a spinner or a rotovac. If I were to go the spinner route I'd also be buying a new wand and a 175. Currently have a westpak 14 and it seems a little heavy but I've yet to try the glide on it also. If I were to choose the rotovac option I would get the tile head and driver.

What's your thoughts?

For the guys that have a spinner and rotovac do you have a preference?

I don't use Rotovacs, so I'm not a qualified source there ...but a 12" Hydroforce spinner from ebay has done me a ton of good work.

From a budget spending approach, the Rotovac option is gonna be the best start. Two reasons.

1. They offer a 30 day trail period. If ya don't like it, return it.

2. You can get every tool you are wanting to purchase in one versatile tool, with different attachments.

I think Rotovac has developed an idea that targets start ups as yourself, with your budget and future needs in mind.

I have a spinner, a 175, and Rotovac(no tile attachments) but in the frame of your question that would be my approach.

Thanks guys. After posting my question I realized it wasn't necessarily which option I should take but instead which to take first. I'll probably go with a rotovac.

How much PSI do you have available? If you have a portable and less than 1000 psi the tile head attachment for the Rotovac 360i will get the agitation of a spinner tool (depending on the surface on some surfaces better agitation because of the brush on our tool) and you won't need to spend more on a pressure washer or inline pump.

We have sold quite a few of these heads to people running TM's and with high pressure you will get more agitation than with a standard spinner.

If anyone wants to try this head please call me and I'll get you one to try.

1 oz per gal mop area to be cleaned scrub with grout brush rinse with gecko.

First off welcome, to me personally sounds like your on the right track. You'll find out the Rotovac 360i or 360 xl are going to be some of the most versatile tools you'll ever own. Once you expand your business Rotovac tools can expand with you to do just about everything in the tile and carpet cleaning business. Good luck!

I've watched so many rotovac videos and every time I finsh watching I always think that I gotta get one but after thinking on it I normally decide against. I think I'm gonna just get one.

Yes I did joe thanks, I was actually just writing you an email and got side tracked looking at other stuff. Mark it's sad I can't remember exactly what the max was since I was just with les getting the unit but I do remember thinking to myself as I was talking with him that I wouldn't go over 1000 psi. I want to say it's around 1200 -1300 and that was due to the burner limitations.

I got my tnt a few months ago, the new #4 heater max is set at 1300 psi I've never had to come even close to that cleaning tile. Use a good pretreat maybe a little grout brush agitation and Rotovac tile brush head and your good to go.

@Briteway33 Yeah you're correct, had to pull my notes.

A large factor that I've been considering when trying to decide whether or not to move forward with Rotovac is the brushes. May sound like a crazy issue to you guys but the direct mechanical agitation has had me a little nervous. I see the benefit, it just seems aggressive and that it could cause damage. My past experience is 100% wanding with some rake agitation as needed on carpet. For tile, a spinner and if the soiling didn't come up first time we kept repeating process of applying cleaner and rinsing with high heat and pressure. I do remember using a stiff brush on a 175 once in a restaurant kitchen, but that wasn't the norm.

I've cleaned tens of thousands of square ft. of ceramic tile with the tile brush head, and had no problems with it being too aggressive. But like any other chemical or tool you need to test it on your own. And don't forget Rotovac will let you try it out first and if you don't like it just send it back. Good luck.

A Malish grit brush on a 175 is good so is a crb but a grout brush is always a must. I'm not a huge fan of spinners I got a west pack grout wand from Joe and love it
